OSAKA: CRITTER BURGER

There's a burger truck in Osaka called Critter Burger (yup). During the BloodWork exhibition the bovine murder van pulled up and promptly began peddling "Three Tides" burgers... Deep in the branding abyss someone is chuckling.

THE PATH: SIBEL

Sibel after his second session awhile back.  Another in a series of aggressive hand and face imagery.  This tattoo focuses on the storm of life.  Many cascading overlays of positive and negative space  But the negative space needed to express violent movements and indicate it was coming from within.  Kind of tricky and dont think I could have maintained the necessary heightened period of mental/physical  energy input, so the initial sessions were short, lose, and aggressive.  Here you can see we blasted in the info on his lower thigh.  There are some secondary thoughts sketched in on his other thigh but that's for another day.

DATE WITH FATE

Unfortunately, thunder and lighting are rare here in San Jose.  But over the last few planetary spins we've experienced a notable showering of fire from the sky.  A lick of which met unfavorably with one of our First St residents.
Yggdrasil it was not but unfortunate none the less.

THE PATH: DOUG

Another early progress image.  This be Doug, a longtimer.  If I'm recalling correctly Doug had said he was looking for a rebirth image for his back... or maybe that's what I decided... Anyway, when the image finally clicked the first thing I saw in the headspace was the finale to 2001: A Space Odessy (1...2).  From there the image below emerged. More to come.

More progress with Sean.  Finally getting to the fun stuff.

NYC

Made the jump to NYC where I met with various comrades in the craft to discuss another project we'll soon be undertaking (keep your eyes peeled for details). 

Stayed with friend Albrigo who's canine companions quietly stole my blankets at night. Daniel's been working on a series of oil paintings for the last year and is due to reveal the body of work during a coming exhibition.

Tattooed with Ruby & Co. for a day.  Actually half a day, as I spent the early part of Earth's rotation lost amongst the subway maze.  Jacqie... even though I was forced to reconcile my life the moment you got behind the wheel, I'm grateful for the late night ride back to Brooklyn.

Being in the East Coast megalopolis during the dead of winter leads one to appreciate the harsh unforgiving California winters.  Much my blood has been watered down over the years.

THE PATH: ICHIKAWA

We started this a few years back in Osaka. Worked on it a few times but its since been awhile since I've seen Ichikawa. Hoping to get back to JP soon and put in some more hours.

THE PATH: JIM

Here's a preliminary image of Jim's back. There's a few independent planes that we wanted to merge which required extra prep work before undertaking the final drawing. Here we were sketching in the major forms using pen. Later I took the lessons learned form the pre sketching and applied them to the final drawing. If you refer back a few entries you can see the outcome.
